Wilson Clash 100 Pro
Racquet Revolution
Wilson Clash 100 Pro or Racquet Revolution as Wilson calls it and for a few good reasons is here. According to Wilson it has taken nearly three years to perfect this brand new racquet. The three factors they endeavoured to have in unmitigated harmony were power, control and feel; and I believe they may have pulled it off.
After I strung Wilson Clash 100 Tour with Luxilon ALU Power at 48 lbs last Friday, I gave it to a few players and coaches to test at our centre at Hornsby. The response was unprecedented. Just like all the You Tube clips that I had seen before, everyone was amazed with the power and control of this racquet. One coach said: “this racquet has the power and plushness of Ultra and the control of Blade.”
Specifications:
Wilson Clash comes in two versions: Clash 100 (295g) and Clash 100 Tour (310) g. Both are 16×19 with 100 squared inches head.
My Verdict
Wilson Clash 100 Pro at 310 g unstrung is a racquet which will appeal to beginners as well as tour players and everyone in between. I can attest with a degree of certainty that I have never played with such a versatile racquet: A beginner racquet is traditionally more power oriented and a player racquet more control. To have enough power to quench beginners’ thirst for power and enough control to satisfy advanced players has been an impossible quest for the racquet companies to bring forth to reality. Wilson has done it: they have made a racquet which will blur the boundaries between beginner racquet and player racquet with a powerful racquet that delivers the ball where you intended it.
